Big day coming up? Starting to feel a little nervous? Don't worry. We put our heads (and experiences!) together and came up with five things to remember when you're stressing about your wedding. Thoughts? Suggestions? Sound off in the comments below!

1)      You can’t please everyone. Your mother prefers roses. His mother loves succulents. You’re a huge fan of hydrangeas. It won’t always be possible to pull everything together without creating some bizarre, cacophonous medley of different tastes. Once you have a strong concept of how you want your wedding day to look and feel, it is absolutely okay to say, “That’s a great idea, but we’re probably going to go with X, Y and Z. Maybe next time!” (just kidding about that last part. Don’t give your mother a heart attack).

2)      Give yourself extra time to get ready on the day. You did a dry run of hair and makeup, and think you need about two hours to pull it all together. But do yourself a favor and make it three. People might run late, you might need more help lacing up your dress, or you might hit traffic on the way. If you plan ahead and give yourself some wiggle room on the day, you’ll feel much better. And if everything goes well and things run smoothly, you can just take the extra minutes to belt out “Single Ladies” one last time.

3)      Don’t reach for that wine just yet. Yes, it looks tempting, but I can promise you – adding alcohol to nerves doesn’t always turn out as well as you hope. You run the risk of overdoing it (or spilling Merlot on your dress!), and this is a day that you want to remember. But we understand that with all the expectations and preparation, you can feel a little unhinged. The solution? Read on!

4)      Make a playlist before the big day. Get pumped. Make sure someone brings iPod speakers so you can blast your favorite songs while getting dressed and having your makeup done. You’ve spent months planning this, and it’s now finally time to let everything go and let the cards fall as they may. So turn Britney up to 11, and start enjoying yourself! Some of our favorite songs: “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, “Here in Your Arms” by HelloGoodby, “Jump” by Van Halen, “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen (don’t laugh – this one works, every time, especially when your entire bridal party sings along), “You Make My Dreams” by Hall and Oates, and, of course, “Going to The Chapel” by The Dixie Cups. See? You don’t need that shot of Fireball.

5)      Most importantly… Remember that at the end of the day, you’re marrying your best friend. If it rains on your guests, if your heel breaks, if your hair gets frizzy, if the flowers turn out all wrong – none of it will really matter, because at the end of it all, when your guests have stumbled home, you’ll be in the arms of the person that wants to spend the rest of their life making you laugh. And there’s nothing more important than that.
